Job Summary

Responsible for the management of the weekly MPS in order to balance demand and supply within available capacity and set Inventory targets. Orchestrate the cross-functional MPS activities following the GKN Aerospace standard. Depending on the size of the size own or support the monthly Operations Supply Planning (IBP) activities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Orchestrate Scheduling (MPS) activities beyond the current week time horizon and for the whole MPS horizon.
  • Create and maintain schedules to deliver in line with Programmes requirements while maintaining Inventory targets and optimizing site capacity.
  • Schedule production for specified products and production lines understanding all the physical and manning constraints.
  • Ensure that MPS:
  • Is feasible and balanced against resource / demonstrated capacity
  • Includes all phase-in/out localization and transfer plans as well as new programmes development/prototyping
  • Is based on agreed working calendar and includes all planned downtime (Holiday routine maintenance Line closures etc.)
  • Is in line with Supplier/Subcontractor available capacity
  • Production Past Dues are re-scheduled weekly
  • Provide input for Material Requirement Planning / Vendor Scheduling process
  • Proactively communicate/escalate to the management team potential MPS issues/constraints to trigger preventive actions in order to mitigate supply failure risk
  • Support operations in monitoring manufacturing output/performance against the schedule/plan challenging and understanding whenever performance differs from standard
  • Support Programme Management in analysing Inventory levels in order to optimize/challenge current status and search for improvement opportunities
  • Provide communication/feedback to Programmes in case of any potential supply issues and also in order to improve Forecast accuracy
  • Liaise with Programmes to support and coordinate all production schedules related new programme launch/prototyping activities
  • Ensure relevant KPIs are monitored and PDCA approach applied with A3 in case of deviation to ensure targets are delivered in a sustainable way (e.g.: Master Schedule Adherence Customer Past Dues Days Inventory Outstanding)
  • Depending on the size of the site all of the above activities are also performed at Operations Supply Planning level and covering the 36 months horizon.
  • Support continuous improvement projects/activities
  • Support Operations in the analysis of Master Schedule Adherence
  • Ensure system Master Data is up to date for all planning and scheduling purposes
  • Related APQC items:
  • Accountable for the process Schedule Production in site scope.
  • Responsible in site scope for the Planning processes and the coordination of stakeholders/functions involved in the following: Plan for and align supply chain resources Plan production operations Schedule productionSchedule production operations.

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Supply Chain OR- in lieu of degree 3 years of experience with scheduling and/or production planning in a manufacturing environment.
Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations and/or program requirements.

GKN Experience
High Proficient with MS Excel
APICS CPIM Part1
Expert level for: manufacturing Supply Planning / MPS / MR
