Job Summary
Position Title:MS Science Teacher
Division: Middle School
Supervisor:Division Principal/Assistant Principal
Position Summary:
Concordia Middle School is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Middle School Science Middle School Science Teacher is responsible for designing and delivering engaging inquiry-based science instruction aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) across grades 68. This role requires a deep understanding of the three-dimensional learning approach: integrating disciplinary core ideas science and engineering practices and crosscutting concepts to foster scientific thinking and curiosity in students. The exact teaching assignment will be determined based on the skillset/expertise of the individual and current MS Science team. Other preferred attributes include demonstration of strong collaborative teaming integration of inclusive practices at the planning and instruction stages and contributions to a positive culture and climate where students are at the center.
In order to meet Concordia school-wide learning outcomes (SLOs) and grade level expectations the teacher carries out the following broad and specific responsibilities across the following domains: Planning and Preparation Classroom Management Instruction and Professional Responsibilities.
Concordia seeks educators who are familiar with and embrace MTSS and UDL designing lessons that meet diverse learning needs and provide equitable opportunities for every student.
Requirements:
Education
- Bachelors Degree in relevant subject area.
- A certification in education.
- Advanced degree or specialization training that supports the teaching role preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years successful teaching in a school setting.
- Teaching in the subject area and with the age of students assigned.
- Working successfully with an ethnically diverse population.
- Working with students with learning differences.
- Working with students who are English Language Learners (ELL).
- Working in an international school setting and familiarity with the American educational system preferred.
- Creating units of work using Universal by Design (UbD) strategies preferred.
Skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of the developmental needs and milestones of students in the age group you are teaching.
- Knowledgeable about:
- Developing appropriate practices
- Using a variety of formative assessments progress monitoring tools and differentiated learning strategies
- The content and pedagogy
- Effective communicator communicates well with a diverse community of parents staff and leaders; proficient writing skills.
- Highly skillful at using and integrating technology.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.

- Plan and implement lessons that build on students prior knowledge and promote progression across the NGSS performance expectations for middle school (grades 68).
- Create hands-on experiential learning opportunities that encourage investigation data analysis and critical thinking.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and support English language development through scientific discourse.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure vertical and horizontal alignment of the science curriculum.
- Use formative and summative assessments to guide instruction and provide meaningful feedback to students.
- Incorporate technology digital tools and real-world applications to enhance student engagement and scientific literacy.
- Establish collaborative relationships with all staff students and parents.
- Engage parents and students in meaningful discussions about student growth and achievement.
- Commit and contribute to the school community play an active positive and supportive role in addressing the needs of the whole child and the ethos of Concordia beyond the classroom. This includes but is not limited to:
- Leading extra-curricular activities (ECAs) during the school year

- Undertake additional duties that may reasonably be assigned or requested by the Supervisor such as leading student trips serving as chaperon roles as needed.
