Glassboro Public Schools is seeking qualified candidates in the capacity of a Assistant Coach. This position is responsible for but not limited to the following duties:
QUALIFICATIONS: Teaching certificate preferred. County teacher substitute certificate a minimum requirement. Teaching and/or coaching experience preferred. Experience playing the sport. Experience coaching the sport. Demonstrated ability to work with high school students. Good character. References from supervisors and coaches.
REPORTS TO: Athletic Coach
JOB GOAL/MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
Supervise all training practice and instructional sessions; performance and conduct of athletes; and fulfill such other duties as the Coach may assign. The authority and responsibility of the Assistant Coach extends to all athletes in his particular activity as assigned by the Coach.
- Operations
a. Assume complete charge of the team and its operation in the absence of the Coach.
b. Identify and work with problem situations.
c. Scout the play of opposing teams as time permits and as designed by the Coach.
d. Assist the coach in readying equipment supplies athletic fields and/or the gymnasium for instructional training and practice sessions.
e. Assist the Coach in operational areas i.e. distribution of uniforms and player equipment inventory of equipment and supplies team transportation for away contests etc.
- Organization
a. Recommend the organization and supervision of his areas of responsibility to meet approved objectives of the athletic activity.
- Personnel
a. Coordinate all aspects of student eligibility parental permission physical examinations and insurance coverage as assigned by the Coach.
b. Work with the team to develop a spirit of good sportsmanship and fair play and to establish and maintain the physical fitness and mental alertness of each individual athlete.
- Finance
a. Assist the Athletic Coach in developing budgetary requests for his teams activities.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a ten (10) month position with salary and contract terms to be negotiated with the Superintendent and the Board of Education.
EVALUATION:
Performance in this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on evaluation of personnel.
