About the role
The Information is hiring a reporter to own the business story of the coming decade: how companies are using artificial intelligence.
What youll cover
- Companies such as Palantir Google Cloud and Amazon Web Services as well as up and comers such as Databricks revealing winners and losers from the shakeout in the cloud and enterprise software industries.
- AI application and agent developers and the infrastructure powering them.
- The economics of AI what vendors are charging what customers are paying and whether anyone is making money.
- How AI developers are trying to replicate older apps like Slack and Salesforce and how the owners of those apps are fighting back.
- Existential threats to software and IT services incumbents such as Adobe Salesforce and Accenture.
- The gap between hype and reality including the messy challenge of installing companywide agents and other automations.

Qualifications
- A proven track record of breaking news and cultivating high-level sources
- Deep curiosity about AI startups and power dynamics in tech
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to tell complex stories clearly
- The ability to multitask between short- and long-term stories
- The ideal candidate will be based in the San Francisco Bay Area or New York City. We offer a flexible hybrid work model to provide a balance between in-office and remote work. To ensure effective collaboration and communication employees are required to work in our offices three days a week.
The Information has led on coverage of AI in everything from the rocky development of GPT-5 and the nearly unfathomable costs facing OpenAI to the struggles of AI providers such as Salesforce and the profit challenges cloud providers face in renting out Nvidia chips. This is a chance to collaborate with the best technology reporters in the business.

Salary Range: $80000 - $160000 USD Annually Bonus Benefits
The salary range posted is based on the companys good faith belief at the time of the posting. Actual compensation may vary above or below this range based on factors such as location work experience and skill level.
