RESEARCH SCIENTIST CRYOEM FACILITY Biology will be supporting a diverse and expanding research community in cryogenic sample preparation imaging and data analysis and will train and support users in specimen preparation data collection and cryoEM/cryoET workflows; maintain and calibrate instruments; assist in collaborative projects; and help shape next-generation techniques in structural biology including leading the integration of the HydraBio system for advanced in situ studies using fluorescence-guided targeting. Located within the facility features cutting-edge instrumentation including a Titan Krios (BioQuantum-K3) Talos Arctica (Falcon3EC/K3) and an Aquilos cryo-FIB/SEM (soon to be upgraded to a HydraBio plasma FIB/SEM with Delmic METEOR fluorescence microscope) along with Chameleon and Vitrobot vitrification systems and robust computational infrastructure. Responsibilities include user training and mentoring (35%) facility operations and administration (30%) collaborative work and staff-assisted usage (20%) equipment maintenance (10%) and community engagement (5%).

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: Ph.D. in biochemistry structural biology biophysics or a related discipline; demonstrated expertise in transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and/or scanning electron microscopy (SEM); familiarity with cryogenic sample preparation methods; strong troubleshooting organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently while balancing the needs of a multi-user facility; and commitment to training and supporting a diverse scientific community. PREFERRED: Four years of research experience in biological electron microscopy; experience with cryo-FIB milling and lamella preparation; background in SPA cryo-electron tomography or related data processing workflows; experience identifying and diagnosing microscope or equipment performance issues; proficiency with computational tools for cryoEM data analysis; experience with Python Linux or HPC environments; and experience in a multi-user or shared research facility.
