Job Summary

Introduction

MarylandsFamily and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) program makes sure all workersin Marylandhave paid time off for medical and family reasons. FAMLI is a social insurancesystem covering2. 8 million workers and 180000 employers delivered as digitally nativepublic-facingservice. Were in the early stages of building something as big and asfar-reaching asunemployment insurance or a new health department. We know thatdeliveringservices primarily through a website over the Internet is a new way of doingbusiness ingovernment.
We recognizethat nothing we do matters if people do not know this program exists. Overthe next coupleof years the Public Engagement Team will be working to ensureMarylandbusinesses and workers know about the FAMLI program and understandwhat it meansto them. The Public Engagement Team are the bridge builders atFAMLI. Theystrengthen the organizations links with communities and stakeholdersacross Marylandby listening and telling stories. They face both outwards and inwards: theytellMarylanders the story of FAMLI and build empathy by listening to and learningfromthe communitiesthat FAMLI serves.

Main Purpose of Job

The Outreach Coordinator is a member of the Public Engagement Team supporting and reporting to the Manager of Public Engagement. The main purpose of this position is to staff the Public Engagement Team outreach efforts for the FAMLI Division throughout the State of Maryland. The Outreach Coordinator will assist the Manager of Public Engagement in identifying and creating meaningful opportunities for stakeholders to raise awareness about paid family and medical leave insurance (FAMLI) share their experiences and provide input into the implementation.

POSITION DUTIES

Duties of this position include but are not limited to:
Maintain proficiency in the full scope of FAMLIs benefits laws and regulationsto be able to adequately educate stakeholders and answer questions.
Identify outreach opportunities to educate stakeholders and raise general awareness of FAMLI.
Maintain strategic partnerships to facilitate communication to stakeholders andgather feedback from stakeholders regarding FAMLI.
Represent FAMLI at outreach events including but not limited to conferences health fairs presentations festivals presentations and meetings throughout the state.
Prepare written reports and maintain records of community engagement activitiesincluding what is working problemsor concerns and where more outreach needs to happen.
Assist with obtaining and analyzing community input on an ongoing basis.
Responsible for transport set-up and take down ofmaterials and displays for all outreach events andmeetings.
Assist with execution of FAMLI hosted events and meetings.
Serve as on-site contact for all events and engagement activities.
Review and fact check background materials talking points PowerPoint presentationsfact sheets and other materialsused for outreach andengagement activities.
Assist with obtaining and analyzing community input on the communications toolsneeded to promote FAMLI.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Four years of administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Masters degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules regulations policy procedures and processes or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for- year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Desired or Preferred Qualifications
At least one year of experience conducting community organizing outreach or related community engagement activities.
Fluent in English Spanish or Mandarin
Strong written and oral communication skills especially at presentations and facilitation of community meetings.
Ability to communicate complex issues in an accessible way.
Experience working with a variety of communities and organizations including diverse socioeconomic racial ethnic religious and ideological communities.
Enthusiasm in working with diverse stakeholders and constituents
Advanced Microsoft Word Excel and PowerPoint skills

LICENSES REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

This role may require travel to other locationsformeetings and other business-relatedneeds. Ability to travel locally 50% of the time is required.
