Job Summary

Access Arts empowers people who experience disability or disadvantage to participate and excel in the arts. We deliver programs across all art forms supporting our vision of a Queensland where everyone is free to participate create and work in the arts. Within the role of Direct Support Worker (Arts) you willprovide a range of individual and group-based supports to Access Arts participants that encourage individual participation in program leading to increased capacity to reach artistic goals and aspirations.

Responsibilities include:

Work with participants to increase their individual artistic skills and achieve their creative goals
Provide support and assistance to individuals on matters of personal care including but not limited to bathing toileting dressing eating and taking of medication.
Set up and take down the workshop space and equipment required in group and 1:1 programs including associated admin tasks such as submitting enrolment forms and attendance / rosters
Ensure the safe and appropriate lifting and transferring of individuals in accordance with the organisations Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures
Ensure all participants carers and staff are recorded on the Group Roster and sign in prior to workshop commencement

Selection Criteria includes:

Ability to deliver or assist in the delivery of arts-based workshops to groups of people who experience disability
Ability to exercise appropriate initiative and work autonomously
Demonstrated understanding of Arts principles with the ability to translate those principles into practice.
Sound working knowledge of the Arts
Excellent communication and organisation skills.
Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and also independently to deliver results
