Job Summary
The Chief Accountant will oversee the daily operations of the accounting department including financial reporting budgeting and regulatory compliance. This role is essential in maintaining accurate financial records implementing accounting policies and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Reporting:
Prepare and review monthly quarterly and annual financial statements.
Ensure accuracy and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) or IFRS.
Analyze financial results highlighting trends and variances for management.
2. Budgeting and Forecasting:
Assist in the development of budgets and forecasts collaborating with department heads.
Monitor actual performance against budgets providing variance analysis and explanations.
3. Internal Controls and Compliance:
Develop and maintain strong internal control systems to prevent errors fraud and ensure data accuracy.
Ensure compliance with local state and federal regulations as well as internal policies.
Oversee audits coordinating with external auditors and resolving audit findings.
4. Team Leadership and Development:
Lead and mentor the accounting team providing guidance on complex accounting issues.
Conduct performance reviews and recommend training programs for team members.
Foster a collaborative environment encouraging professional growth.
5. Tax and Regulatory Compliance:
Prepare tax returns and filings ensuring timely submission and compliance.
Keep up-to-date with changing tax laws and regulations advising management on the impact.
Liaise with tax authorities and respond to inquiries or audits.
Ability to speak read and write English and Arabic fluently - ESSENTIAL
Bachelor s degree in Accounting Finance or related field (Master s or CPA/CA designation is preferred).
5 years of experience in accounting or financial management with a strong track record in a leadership role.
Strong knowledge of GAAP or IFRS as well as relevant regulatory requirements.
Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g. SAP Oracle QuickBooks).
Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
