The Junior estimator reports to the Director of Preconstruction and Estimating and responsible for cost calculations to determine how much it will cost to complete a project or provide buyout for a new scope of work and changes to contracted work. Client is a high end custom RESIDENTIAL builder with projects that include technically challenging pre-war co-ops and townhouses in New York City alongside multi-structured ground up estates historical preservation and renovation projects.
Responsibilities: - Manage bid documents and drawings
- Solicit subcontractor and supplier pricing
- Review drawings and takeoff key quantities
- Maintain subcontractor directory and reference databases
- Prepare requests for information and submit to design team
- Communicate with design team subcontractors and internally through meetings formal correspondence and telephone
- Assist other staff as needed with change order pricing subcontractor selection or other special projects
Key Skills: - Able to make a plan manage the plan and deliver to a deadline (project management)
- Construction drawing (blueprint) reading
- Microsoft Excel spreadsheets experienced user must know how to utilize formulas
- On Screen Takeoff Planswift Blue beam or other takeoff software
- Knowledge of the construction process understanding of sequence and trade scopes
- Verbal and written English communication
Experience: - Bachelor degree in Construction Management Engineering or other technical degree
- Prefer 2 to 3 years experience
- Hands-on experience in construction a plus

Office is based in Summit NJ but projects are across the New York Metro area including New York City Westchester County and Connecticut.
