Job Summary

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Welding Engineer with expertise in robotic welding systems and proven supervisory experience to join our engineering team. This role is critical to developing and optimizing manual and automated welding processes to ensure product quality efficiency and compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will lead welding projects oversee production teams and drive continuous improvement across all welding operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop implement and optimize manual and robotic welding procedures including WPS and PQR documentation in accordance with industry standards (AWS ASME ISO API etc.).
  • Lead the setup programming and troubleshooting of robotic welding systems (e.g. ABB Fanuc KUKA Motoman).
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of welders and welding technicians to ensure adherence to quality and production standards.
  • Provide technical support and training to welding staff including mentoring and performance evaluations.
  • Analyze welding defects and failures; perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with design quality and production teams to ensure weldability and manufacturability of components.
  • Oversee welding process audits and maintain full documentation of procedures and inspection records.
  • Monitor productivity welding performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure all welding activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Participate in the selection installation and maintenance of welding equipment including robotic cells.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) with welding input and process validation.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelors degree in Welding Engineering Mechanical Engineering Manufacturing Engineering or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in welding engineering including at least 2 years working with robotic welding systems.
  • Proven supervisory or team leadership experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • Strong knowledge of welding codes and standards (AWS D1.1 ASME IX ISO 3834 etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with multiple welding processes: SMAW GMAW GTAW FCAW.
  • Familiarity with robotic welding programming fixture design and cycle time optimization.

Preferred:

  • Certifications such as Certified Welding Engineer (CWEng) or Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
  • Experience in industry e.g. automotive aerospace oil & gas heavy fabrication.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and welding simulation tools (e.g. WeldSim RoboDK).
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team-building capabilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Results-oriented mindset with strong attention to detail.

Working Conditions:

  • Combination of office and shop floor environment.
  • Occasional travel to project sites customer locations or supplier facilities.
  • Use of PPE is required when working in fabrication or production areas.
