Job Highlights
UAB MedicinesHeart & Vascular Center (HVC)is a 48-bed unit including open bays private rooms and 15 procedure labs designed to streamline preop and recovery care for cardiac neuro interventional and interventional radiology patients. Patient care on this unit supports the cath (ACL) lab electrophysiology (EP) lab vascular interventional radiology (VIR) lab and neuro interventional lab procedure areas. Staff in this unit conduct assessments and procedures that could include cardioversions ablations extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) angioplasty nephrostomy biliary drains thrombectomy and transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE). Its a dynamic fast-paced environment where you are constantly learning and challenging your critical assessment skills as a nurse providing clinical care to a diverse patient population. Plus its a role where team members can experience instant gratification from helping make a positive outcome. Staff working in the cath lab electrophysiology lab and vascular interventional radiology lab procedure areas can expect to be on call 5-8 days per month including after hours weekends and holidays. Staff must be able to respond within 30 minutes for emergent cases and can be given access to a room if needed. Ideal candidates have previous critical care experience but it is not required. Additional training is provided for candidates without experience.

Job Description
To coordinate and facilitate performance improvement activities in accordance with hospital policy. To use evidence-based decision making combined with innovative practical ideas to perform consultation/research data collection comparison reporting analysis facilitation of recommendations for improvement and support medical staff performance improvement activities. To work collaboratively with physicians responsible for patients and the unit department or division. May develop evidence based protocols implement perioperative plans using quality improvement methods.
