Job Description

Rochester Community and Technical College is seeking applications for a fulltime probationary Associate Degree Nursing Instructor that is dedicated to excellence in teaching and desires to become part of a creative vibrant and student-centered learning community.

Duties Include:

Classroom teaching and other contacts with students form the core of the faculty work assignment. Additionally professional development and service to the college are the other core components of a faculty members work assignment. A faculty member will plan to engage in such activities as: student advising course evaluation classroom preparation the evaluation of student performance committee assignments classroom research and community service as part of the overall work assignment. A faculty members work assignment includes a number of diverse professional responsibilities.

  • Participate in department and college curriculum development.
  • Deliver classroom lab and clinical instruction.
  • Conduct classroom assessment and evaluation activities.
  • Participate in committee assignments and college-wide initiatives.
  • Participate in department accreditation and review.
  • Engage in professional development activities.
  • Advocate on behalf of students program and college.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education Requirement:

  • Graduate degree with a major in nursing or
  • Bachelors degree in nursing and a graduate degree in support of the field of nursing and/or education.
  • A nursing program director must hold a graduate degree in nursing nursing administration nursing education public health nursing or a nursing clinical specialty.

Occupational Experience Requirement:

  • Two full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience as a registered nurse at the professional level.
  • As a registered nurse at the professional level experientially qualified to accomplish the mission goals and expected student and faculty outcomes; including experiential preparation in the areas the faculty will teach.

Recency Requirement:

  • One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.

Professional Requirement

  • Current unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse (RN) with current registration in Minnesota.
  • Other Requirement:Compliance with clinical affiliate policies for attending on-site clinical teaching assignments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A diverse clinical background.
  • Experience using: 1) contemporary teaching and learning techniques; and 2) a variety of delivery methods including but not limited to simulation laboratory and clinical instruction and evaluation.
  • Previous teaching experience in nursing education.
