The Analytical Chemistry department is scientifically responsible for the development evaluation and validation of analytical methods as well as the preparation of related documentation packages for early-phase research projects and new product introductions (NPIs) within Pharmaceutical Diagnostics (PDx) Research & Development. Additionally the team supports investigations across the broader organization particularly those involving particulate contamination or customer complaints that require analytical chemistry expertise.
The Lead Analytical Scientist plays a key role in supporting the ongoing early-phase development of contrast media and NPIs. Responsibilities include HPLC-UV method development routine analytical testing and collaboration with chemistry and formulation development teams. The scientist is also expected to contribute to product investigations involving spectroscopy crystallography and imaging techniques. Furthermore the role includes participation in GxP laboratory activities.

Responsibilities:

  • To provide analytical expertise in the analytical method development validation and application of chromatography methods.
  • To provide analytical expertise in the characterization of solid materials and identification of extraneous particles with spectroscopy crystallography and imaging techniques.
  • You will be engaged in hands-on work in the laboratory with follow-up of external partners as required.
  • Actively participate in cross-functional project team meetings report project progress to project leaders and line manager provide written technical reports as required.
  • Produce scientific reports & documentation to support regulatory documentation packages.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • MSc or PhD in Analytical Chemistry. Experience with chromatography methods and the characterization of solid materials and identification of extraneous particles are essential with this role.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of analytical chemistry method development and validation principles according to ICH and other applicable guidelines (FDA EMEA etc).
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Highly motivated with a passion for rigorous science with a strong drive for continuous improvement in identifying and implementing new technologies or approaches.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative work environment within a team.
  • Having the ability to work in a dynamic time-sensitive environment and prioritize work as assigned.
  • English - fluent verbal and written.

Desired Characteristics/Skills:

  • Experience in other analytical techniques such as: ICP GC spectroscopy optical Microscopy SEM/EDS TEM XRD DSC TGA XRF IR etc
  • Experience in working under GMP or in an accredited laboratory.
  • Comfortable working in a Norwegian language environment.
  • Knowledge about the regulatory requirements for analytical methods across the drug development pipeline.
  • Familiarity and a desire to apply/build quality by design (QbD) and design of experiments (DoE) principles into our analytical development approach.
