Position Description
A Street Outreach Worker provides comprehensive street outreach services to persons experiencing homelessness. Services include crisis intervention provision of basic needs access to emergency shelter transportation client advocacy service linkage and more.
The worker must be able to provide strengths-based case management to individuals seeking permanent housing while problem-solving potential barriers and completing relevant housing applications with clients.
Outreach Workers primarily work outside of the office on the streets and/or in a vehicle. The position is not approved for remote or hybrid work based upon the tasks assigned to the role.
Skills Required

Experience working with adults experiencing homelessness diagnosed with behavioral health disorders or who are substance dependent

Ability to engage with clients on streets under bridges in homeless camps in jail in hospitals and other outreach locations

Counseling and crisis intervention skills

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

Basic computer skills to maintain data in a Homeless Management Information System (HMIS)
Experience Required

Two years experience with homeless population
Experience Preferred

Previous experience providing street outreach services case management or human services to individuals experiencing homelessness
Education Required

Bachelors degree in a human service field
