Job Duties
Position supervises the activities of inmates in the preparation and serving of meals for the population and staff. Trains inmates in all kitchen policies and procedures. Maintains a high standard of food safety sanitation and quality in cost effective manner.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent. Work experience in a large volume food service environment including a correctional educational hospital or similar institutional setting. ServSafe certification. Working knowledge of large volume food operations food service management sanitation practices and procedures and food safety standards. Skilled in operation of food service equipment. Demonstrated ability to supervise others in food service environment. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. Demonstrated ability to prepare nutritional meals. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels to include management staff and inmates.
Additional Considerations
Working knowledge of VADOC policies and procedures for Food Services. Coursework and or certification in food service and or dietary. Advance working knowledge of food safety sanitation cost controls operating and maintaining food service equipment.
