Department Overview
Motorolas Access Control Divisions (previously OpenPath now Avigilon Alta) mission is to improve your workday with smart office technology at your front door. We are looking for candidates who can help us build scale and innovate as we develop our industry leading platform for access control and office automation. Strong analytical and software skills are a must in order to join our team and we are particularly seeking candidates with experience and skills in multiple technologies in order to contribute broadly to our team-centric approach to product development.
Job Description
This Hardware Test Engineer is responsible for hardware quality of both existing and new products. This position requires significant cross-functional collaboration with customer support QA product management and software and hardware development groups. The ideal candidate is both disciplined in their approach to engineering and passionate about delivering high-quality product experiences.
This position is based in our Culver City CA location so the candidate must reside in the Greater Los Angeles Area as you will be required to go into the office 3-5 days per week.
What youll be doing:
- Transform product requirements and user journeys into rigorous and comprehensive hardware test plans
- Work with quality and test engineers to execute hardware test plans and interpret their results
- Identify and remediate quality gaps in current products
- Develop and maintain the feedback loop between field failures customer support engineering and our manufacturing partners
- Apply appropriate statistical control methods (SPC Cpk) to establish IQC IPQC and OQC requirements at our vendors contract manufacturers and warehouses
- Maintaining and establishing new KPIs to help understand and manage product quality for the portfolio
- Occasional travel to both domestic and international warehouses vendors and contract manufacturers
- Compiling interpreting and presenting data to senior leadership
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in a STEM field (Electrical Mechanical Computer Science etc.)
- 5 years of experience working in hardware development test and/or product quality
- Experience in high-volume electronics manufacturing and working with contract manufacturers
- Fundamental understanding of electronics firmware and software development
- Experience developing B2B products regulated markets including but not limited to life safety security medical and aerospace
- Experience working directly with customers and customer-facing teams
- Experience developing high-reliability and long life cycle products
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Target Base Salary Range: $80000 - $110000
Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge skills and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
