Class Summary
Job Description
The Program Leader will be serving as a key liaison for community membersandcitizen inquiries addressing questions and concerns related to recreational programs special events and facility rentals. This role involves developing and maintaining structured schedules for rentalsandprograms in collaboration with staff vendors and contract instructors while aligning activities with departmental goals. Additionally the incumbent will be responsible for implementingprogram and event development stafftraining and leading community outreach efforts to ensure inclusive and responsive service delivery.
Essential Duties
- Coordinating and supervising daily operations including cash handling staff scheduling and training marketing and public engagement
- Overseeing the planning implementation and evaluation of programs activities and special events for diverse age groups and socioeconomic communities
- Developing curriculum coordinating with contract instructors and ensuring programs align with departmental goals and community needs
- Managing rental bookings for a wide variety of indoor and outdoor facilities including historic sites community rooms dance and art studios pavilions meadows athletic fields gymnasiums and tennis courts skate parks dog parks and other recreational spaces
- Maintaining accurate records including registrations attendance deposits financial documentation and facility usage reports
Public Speaking
- Facilitating clear communication and services between patrons sports associations internal departments and agency partners
- Supporting marketing and outreach efforts to promote programs and increase participation
- Addressing groups and individuals in a public setting to express the department missions and goals
- Acting asthe Master of Ceremonies for events and programs
Other Job Requirements/Information
- This job may require on-call rotation and emergency after hours weekends and/or holidays
- Interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with subordinate staff coworkers supervisor the general public etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction
- Strong organizational time-management and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with point-of-sale systems scheduling software and record-keeping tools is an asset
- Motivationto work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Grade
- The Grade for this position is B221. The salary will be based on education and experience
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree in Parks and Recreation Health and Human Services Senior Services or a related field AND
- One year of related experience
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered
- Valid drivers license
- CPR Certification (within 6 months of employment)
- First Aid Certification (within 6 months of employment)
Preferred Qualifications in addition to the above minimum qualifications
- Associate degree in Recreation Education Public Service or Hospitality AND
- Two years of recreational program experience
