DescriptionIn accordance with the Vision Purpose and Values and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Seating Department Supervisor and utilizing a client-centred approach and within the context of a multidisciplinary team provides seating services for children and adult clients. Responsible for the seating assessment and the design manufacture and fitting of required systems and controls. Provides work direction to Technicians. Monitors achievement of service objectives and adheres to established budgetary guidelines.
Travel may be a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Vancouver Island Health Authority in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Training And Experience
- Graduation from a recognized university program in Physiotherapy; and
- Current licensure in a practicing category with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC as a Physiotherapist; and
- Eligible for membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA); and
- Three (3) years recent related experience in seating and mobility assessment to prescribe custom and commercial equipment for clients with complex presentations such as pressure injuries musculoskeletal asymmetries and deformities pain spasticity or exploration of alternate drive controls. Additionally experience with clients of all ages who have multiple diagnoses such as spinal cord injury traumatic brain injury cerebral palsy muscular dystrophy MS ALS amputations and many other conditions; and
- Valid BC Drivers License.
Or
- Graduation from a recognized university program in Occupational Therapy; and
- Current practicing full registration with the current licensure in a practicing category with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC as an Occupational Therapist; and
- Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT); and
- Three (3) years recent related experience in seating and mobility assessment to prescribe custom and commercial equipment for clients with complex presentations such as pressure injuries musculoskeletal asymmetries and deformities pain spasticity or exploration of alternate drive controls. Additionally experience with clients of all ages who have multiple diagnoses such as spinal cord injury traumatic brain injury cerebral palsy muscular dystrophy MS ALS amputations and many other conditions.; and
- Valid BC Drivers License.
