We are seeking Mandinka Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Mandinka a Mande language spoken in Gambia Senegal Guinea and West African diaspora communities is a rare but high-priority language often required in asylum and immigration interviews.

Responsibilities

Provide real-time Mandinka English telephonic interpretation for USCIS officers applicants and stakeholders.
Interpret accurately neutrally and with cultural sensitivity in asylum and immigration contexts.
Maintain confidentiality in line with USCIS/DHS interpreter standards.
Support both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge interpretation needs.
Participate in training compliance refreshers and quality assurance reviews.

Qualifications

Native or near-native fluency in Mandinka and English.
2 years of professional interpreting experience (immigration asylum NGO legal or government strongly preferred).
Strong knowledge of interpreter ethics confidentiality and impartiality.
Cultural familiarity with Mandinka-speaking communities in West Africa.
Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 federal clearance.
