RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a member of the interdisciplinary team the Cook is responsible for the planning coordinating and functioning of dietary needs for residents guests and staff at Agape Hospice in accordance with the Hospice philosophy.

  • Prepares meals and special dietary needs of the residents;
  • Works in cooperation with other kitchen staff;
  • Follows guidelines for the safety and security of food and equipment;
  • Provides direction to Dietary Aides and others (volunteers) who may be working in the kitchen; holds them accountable for the accomplishment of their day to day tasks
  • Maintains a high standard of cleanliness in the work area at all times
  • May be asked to perform other related duties as required

  • Journeyman Cook certification or an equivalent combination of education and experiences;
  • 1-3 years of prior related experience with at least one year of experience in institutional cooking for a conventional style system preferred;
  • Experience in coordination of dietary services in an institutional setting desirable;
  • Current Safe Food Handling Certification and WHMIS working knowledge of sanitation and hygiene is required;

The successful applicant will preferably have a High School education or equivalent completion of WHMIS food handling and safety training required CPR and First Aid.

Compensation:

The target hiring range for this position is $21.81 to $22.87 with a maximum of $23.92.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions internal equity and candidate experience skills and qualifications relevant to the role.
