Job Summary

About the Role:

The Mayors School Year Jobs Program will offer a combination of group and individual project-based work. As a whole group you will participate in 2 hours of bi-weekly job-readiness and professional development skill building workshops. You will spend the other 6-8 hours per week working in departments throughout the City of Somerville.

Qualifications:

  • Must live or attend school in Somerville
  • Must be a current High School Student
  • Must be 14 years of age by November 1 2025.
  • Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States as U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents
  • 1 Adult Reference (The reference should be an adult who knows you well and knows is not related to you. Examples: Teacher Guidance Counselor Supervisor Coach etc.)

Hours & Pay:

  • 8 hours per week/$18.28 per hour (schedules vary by placement)

Application Process:

  • Application will close on October 31 2025.
  • Interviews will take place November 19 2025.
  • First day of programming: January 26 2026.

Pre-Employment Requirements for All Employees:

  • MA Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) clearance
  • Completion of Conflict-of-Interest Law Education training for municipal employees
