Job Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for providing high-level accounting support to our Vacaville CA manufacturing plant. This role will play a key role in the finance department providing expertise and leadership in various accounting and financial functions. With a strong background in accounting principles and experience in the manufacturing industry you will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting analyzing financial data and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support business decisions.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements including income statements and balance sheets.
- Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Perform complex reconciliations for accounts such as inventory intercompany transactions and revenue recognition.
- Assist in developing and managing the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting process.
- Analyze financial data and provide insights to management to support strategic decision-making.
- Review and analyze variances between actual financial results and budgeted targets providing recommendations for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Support the preparation of financial data for audits and liaise with external auditors.
- Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the finance department.
- Participate in cost analysis and provide recommendations for cost-saving initiatives.
- Collaborate with the cost accounting team to analyze product costs and recommend cost-saving strategies.
- Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards and industry trends and implement best practices accordingly.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.
- 3 plus years of progressive accounting experience preferably in the manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP) and financial analysis.
- Experience with ERP systems preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to work independently and lead a project team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Professional certification (e.g. CPA) is a plus but not mandatory.
- All Microsoft Office products proficiency desired.
