Job Summary

The Technician is responsible for the handling consolidating and processing of hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials received by the Processing Facilities. The Technician must display a focus on safety and efficiency in a team environment while performing moderately labour intensive and repetitious tasks.



POSITION: Region of Halton MHSW Facilities Technician

Experience Qualifications & Education

Post-secondary degree /diploma degree required (In the field of chemistry or environmental would be an asset.)

Two (2) years of MHSW chemistry or relevant experience.

Valid G License and own transportation is mandatory as depots are typically located outside of public transportation.

Working Conditions

You will be required to work Monday to Friday from 8:00am 4:30pm

Saturday & Sunday shifts may be required during the summer season.

The Region of Halton MHSW Depot is closed on statutory holidays including the Civic Holiday except for Boxing Day

WORK REQUIREMENTS:

Responsible for the operation of the Region of Halton MHSW Depot.

Provide excellent customer service to residents visiting the depot.

Responsible for safety of all workers public and visitors to the site

Perform physically demanding work.

Identify sort and pack waste chemicals into appropriate storage containers.

Weigh each material on-site (eg. drums gaylords 20L Pails etc) and input the weights in the computer inventory tracking system.

Maintain clean grounds and facility.

Comply with all rules and regulations to do with operating the depot.

Have good communication skills to deal with Region of Halton Representatives and the public.

Report to and receive authorization from the MHSW Program Lead
