We are seeking Mongolian Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Mongolian spoken in Mongolia and parts of northern China is a rare but critical Central Asian language often needed in asylum and immigration proceedings.
Responsibilities
- Provide real-time Mongolian English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews hearings and asylum cases.
- Interpret accurately impartially and with professionalism in immigration and legal contexts.
- Maintain strict confidentiality under USCIS/DHS interpreter standards.
- Support both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge interpretation needs.
- Participate in training compliance refreshers and quality assurance audits.
Qualifications
- Native or near-native fluency in Mongolian and English.
- 2 years of professional interpreting experience (immigration asylum community legal or government strongly preferred).
- Strong knowledge of interpreter ethics confidentiality and impartiality standards.
- Cultural understanding of Mongolian-speaking communities.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 federal clearance.
