Responsibilities
- Training ROI Technician in release of information functions including receiving incoming requests for protected health information (via fax phone email) screening request for compliance with federal/state regulation processing requests via automated and manner methods and billing
- Rounds with ROI Technicians on a daily basis to ensure questions and/or obstacles are addressed and key performance indicators/KPIs (timeliness quality productivity) are met. Reports any variations to ROI Director
- Supports medical record release (ROI) including patient/family requests for patient portal access and CareLink access by external users.
- Assists in the workflow design and monitoring of release of information function and works with leadership to refine as needed to meet KPIs.
- Assists with the release of information such as medical examiner requests organ procurement requests and other request types based on demand and need.
- Communicates effectively with leadership on ROI related issues.
- Supports ROI leadership team with other duties as requested.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma required.
- 1-2 years of experience in a full-time health information management position with record release and/or record completion experience.
- Working knowledge of HIPAA and privacy standards.
- Excellent organizational skills detail oriented ability to set priorities and problem solve.
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency in meeting deadlines and responding to internal and external customers.
- Knowledgeable of electronic medical record systems such as EPIC and other software including excel and Microsoft. Experience with ROI automated or manual tracking systems.
- Communicates effectively professionally and respectfully with internal and external customers.
- Demonstrates leadership and teambuilding skills including assisting staff with changing workloads and workflows to meet the demands for timely and quality work in release of information function.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors or associate degree in business health care administration health information or related field preferred.
- RHIT or RHIA preferred.
