Job Title: Teacher- Special Education Gr 6-12 (SEI Endorsement Required)Supervisor: Director of Special Education and English Language Learners Position Type: Full-Time 11 Months Hours: 8:00 AM - 3:30 PMPosition OverviewCodman Academy Charter Public School seeks a dedicated Special Education Teacher (6-12) to provide individualized high-quality instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs. The ideal candidate will be responsible for implementing inclusive and specialized instruction developing and managing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and collaborating with general education teachers to ensure that all students receive equitable access to rigorous engaging learning experiences. This role requires an SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) endorsement and a strong commitment to serving students with disabilities in an inclusive or resource ResponsibilitiesInstruction & Student SupportProvide direct differentiated instruction to students with disabilities in inclusive small-group and pull-out evidence-based interventions to support students in accessing the EL Education curriculum and Illustrative Mathematics (IM) universal design for learning (UDL) and multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) to meet the diverse learning needs of all and scaffold lessons to ensure accessibility for students with disabilities including those with cognitive behavioral and language-based learning a student-centered strengths-based approach to learning focusing on independence and Development & ComplianceDevelop implement and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal special education students strengths and areas of need through formal and informal assessments using the data to drive accurate and timely documentation including IEP progress reports evaluation reports and accommodation IEP meetings collaborating with families general education teachers specialists and service providers to develop and adjust student & School EngagementWork closely with general education teachers ESL specialists and related service providers to ensure coordinated support for students with -plan and co-teach lessons that promote full inclusion and equitable access to the EL Education and IM strong relationships with families by maintaining regular communication and providing resources to support student learning at in professional development data meetings and school-wide initiatives to strengthen special education programming and inclusion & Social-Emotional SupportImplement positive behavior intervention strategies (PBIS) and restorative justice practices to create a supportive learning small-group and individualized social-emotional learning (SEL) support in collaboration with school counselors and as an advocate and mentor for students fostering confidence and a growth & ExperienceRequired:Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field (Masters preferred).Massachusetts teaching certification in Moderate Disabilities (PreK-8).SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) Endorsement teaching in an inclusive or resource special education understanding of IEP development differentiated instruction and progress other duties as assigned by the supervisor to support student learning and overall school :Experience implementing EL Education and Illustrative Mathematics (IM) in co-teaching models and inclusion of assistive technology and AAC tools to support diverse collaboration and communication skills with families and Range: Based on CACPS ScaleWhy Join Codman AcademyCodman Academy is a mission-driven charter school committed to academic excellence equity and social-emotional learning.
