Faculty Employment Opportunity

POSITION:

The Department of Social Work at California State University Stanislaus invites applications for the position of full-time lecturer. This is a full-time 12-month faculty appointment in the MSW Program beginning Fall 2026. The appointee will be part of the California Title IV-E Child Welfare Training Program and will be responsible for teaching a variety of social work courses including practicum education in the area of child welfare supporting special topics as identified and participation in related committee meetings. Workload assignments include teaching courses consistent with qualifications attending MSW Department meetings and maintaining communication with University students faculty and Child Welfare Agencies and community partners as required. A primary focus of this role is to prepare MSW students for employment in public child welfare within the state of California.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Master of Social Work Degree from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)
Accredited Program
Five years of post-MSW practice experience of which three years must be in PublicChild Welfare
Functional knowledge of child/family issues and Child Welfare programs
Academic teaching or social service training experience
Experience in training teaching and mentoring a diverse student population
Understanding of the service systems social and cultural issues in the central California region
Demonstrated commitment to the pursuit of social justice
Ability to establish networks and collaborate effectively with the university studentsfaculty Child Welfare Agencies and community partners
Awareness of the National Association of Social Workers practice standards (NASWCode of Ethics)
Ability to prioritize and manage the volume of work
Basic computer and software knowledge and skills
Facilitation skills in navigating courageous conversations knowledge of conflict
resolution strategies and experience with restorative justice practices
Strong written and verbal communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience as a Social Work Practicum Educator (Field Instructor)/Liaison
Five years of post-MSW practice experience in Public Child Welfare in a progressively responsible administrative position
Familiarity with approaches to supervision
Experience with learning management systems such as Canvas
Experience with social work pedagogy
Knowledge of current trends and issues impacting learning in higher education
Ability to coordinate many varied academic responsibilities work under pressure meet deadlines and adjust priorities
Familiarity with the Council on Social Work Education accreditation standards and competency-based education
Experience teaching in graduate level education
Skills with and/or ability to learn computer systems and software and other multimedia skills
Clinical Social Work License or other specialized credentials

COMPENSATION:

Commensurate with qualifications and experience. As a member of the 23-campus CSU System we offer an extremely competitive benefits package.

Newly hired lecturers with terminal degrees are placed in Range 3 of the salary schedule and others are normally placed in Range 2. Starting salaries are usually at or near the minimum of the range.
