| Position Summary: | The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is seeking applicants for the position of chairperson of the department. The chairperson serves as the administrative fiscal and curricular leader of the department. Responsibilities include budgeting staffing scheduling and supervising; overseeing facilities; mentoring faculty to achieve personal and departmental goals; working with staff current students prospective students and other constituents; and engaging in alumni addition they interact with the Dean of the School of Engineering (SOE) and other department chairs in school-level activities. They lead the department in efforts to enhance the reputation of the undergraduate and graduate programs and foster vibrant funded research programs supported by undergraduate and graduate students. The chairperson oversees curriculum and accreditation processes and supports a vision for the departments future direction. Responsibilities also include teaching and performing research as appropriate. This is an internal search with applicants encouraged from current School of Engineering or UDRI employees who would qualify for associate professor rank with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. | Minimum Qualifications: | - Doctorate in Electrical Engineering Computer Engineering or related engineering discipline
- Achieved the rank of Associate Professor in the SOE or UDRI employees who would qualify for the rank of associate professor
- Articulated commitment to advancing inclusive excellence
- Effective written communication skills
- Sustained record of:
- Effective teaching and mentorship to create an inclusive learning environment incorporating characteristics of a Marianist education
- Obtaining external funding leading sponsored research and dissemination of peer-reviewed research
- Service to the department SOE and UD community

Experience in effective administration of committees centers or programs in alignment with the values of the University of Dayton Experience in effective stewardship of financial resources Experience in developing articulating and implementing a vision or plan that advances and strengthens an organization through the achievement of specific measurable goals Effective organization skills Successful experience in curriculum development and/or assessment Sustained record of effective teaching in Electrical and Computer Engineering classes Effective interpersonal communication skills - Successful experience in any or all of the following:
- Collaboratively establishing and implementing strategic priorities
- Recruiting mentoring and or teaching individuals from socially and culturally diverse communities
- Recruiting and mentoring faculty and staff
- Recruiting mentoring and positively engaging undergraduate and graduate students
- Resource management
- Development and employment of best practices for the promotion of an inclusive and welcoming classroom academic organization or department
- Collaboration with external stakeholders
