Environmental Technician I:TheDepartment of Environmental Services (ENV)Office of Administrative Support has two (2) vacancies located in Honolulu.
What Youll Do
- Perform technical support of professional engineering activities and investigative work relative to the Citys Sewer Service Charge Industrial Wastewater Strength Surcharge and the Operational Hookup Programs.
- Prepare for and conduct investigations in a wide variety of buildings and structures.
- Initiate corrective action by informing customers (end users architects contractors) of deficiencies in plans or construction and on what changes are needed.
- Operate a motor vehicle to drive to a wide variety of urban and remote locations to conduct investigations.

Environmental Technician II:TheDepartment of Facility Maintenance(DFM)Storm Water Quality Division has one (1) vacancy located at Kapolei Hale.
What Youll Do
- Respond to inquiries on allowed discharges to the Citys storm drain system explain roles of City and dischargers and responsibilities to minimize pollutants from entering storm drain system.
- Receive complaints of illegal and/or permitted discharges evaluate urgency of response required conduct investigations evaluate seriousness of any illegal violations and prepare reports of findings and recommendations.
- Perform any follow up enforcement actions in support of the branchs programs to ensure necessary corrective behaviors and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Operate a vehicle independently to perform fieldwork attend meetings and conduct inspections.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
At time of application you must be a citizen national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:Level I & II:Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience which demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:Level I:Two years of technical field experience which involved sampling inspectional and/or investigational work relating to the enforcement of laws ordinances and/or rules and regulations.
Level II: Three years of technical field experience which involved inspectional and/or investigational work relating to the enforcement of laws ordinances and/or rules and regulations one of which shall have been in an environmental program; or one year of work experience at the next lower level.Substitution: An Associates degree from a regionally-accredited college or university in Engineering Technology or Natural Sciencesand/or a Bachelors degree from a regionally-accredited four-year college or university in Engineering or in a Biological or Physical Sciencewill substitute for up to two years of the required technical field experience.
The education requirement must be met at the time of application. Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United order to receive credit for the education a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided. We also reserve the right to request further information about your academic program evidence of comparability or an original transcript.
