The opportunity

The Capital Works and Assets Team is responsible for building maintaining and managing GMCTs portfolio of built environment assets thereby supporting the organisations financial and environmental sustainability. The Capital Program Delivery Manager is responsible for the delivery and day to day management of GMCTs capital works program leading a dedicated team of Project Managers. The role requires proactive and strong leadership to ensure delivery through all phases of the project lifestyle ensuring project risks project timeframes costs and the quality of delivery is actively managed.

Key Responsibilities included but not limited to

  • Manage the delivery of the annual capital works program through the project lifecycle including feasibility schematic design implementation delivery and handover.
  • Manage and support a team of project managers to consistently deliver approximately 40-55 concurrent projects each year in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Lead improvements across the team strengthening quality assurance contract management and project management processes.
  • Engage with external consultants builders contractors and superintendents as required to enhance delivery and capability in accordance with budget and portfolio priorities.
  • Manage and support all planning activities for projects ensuring all compliance and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Support the Project Management Office and ensure the PMO tool is fully utilised and up to date with all project information.
  • Ensure the team adheres to all governance procurement and financial processes and assist on tender evaluations as required.
  • Support all BE Governance activities with reporting to PCG and ESG meetings as required.
  • Support and prepare reports memos and briefing papers as required.
  • Assist in project scope definition success metrics and criteria project budgets and funding project prioritisation and resourcing requirements.
  • Using GMCTs risk frameworks define project risks and appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Capture Risk and Lessons learned across all projects to ensure a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Lead promote and maintain good communication and working relationships within BE and across other GMCT departments.
  • Ensure that all activities comply with relevant legislative obligations and within internal policies and procedures.
  • Work with the General Manager Capital Works & Assets and the executive and leadership teams to implement and uphold the GMCT Vision Mission and Values and the objectives incorporated within Strategic Annual and Business Plans related to the delivery of projects.
  • Regularly monitor interpret and evaluate financial output and outcome data.

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Project Management Engineering Architecture Building Construction or related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years experience in a relevant field.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate and manage civil design and construction projects end to end.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects support project delivery and leading a team
  • Demonstrated proficiency with industry project management software.
  • Excellent written oral and presentation skills.
