Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

Must possess the capability to carry out responsibilities of an Operations Technician II role:

  • Prepares samples or clinical agents for pickups courier deliveries and shipments.
  • Works closely with managers to support customer inquiries discrepancies inventory maintenance and database updates.
  • Responsible for using an inventory management system for data entry sample tracking and management of samples.
  • Maintains files for validation of data and preparation of queries reviews accumulated data for accuracy and prepares reports of information and sample data.
  • Manages internal specimen consolidation and organization projects while being mentored by a more senior technician.
  • Participates in process improvement activities.

Receives handles and catalogs pharmaceutical products and samples of human animal and/or plant origin at temperatures varying from room temperature to -196C with potentially dangerous characteristics.

  • Ensures compliance with cGMP regulations detailed in sections 210 and 211 alongside the quality frameworks set by the company.
  • Follows SOPs facility safety protocols and FDA regulations potentially encompassing adherence to cGMP CFR parts 210 and 211 when necessary.
  • Models behavior that aligns with our core values: Integrity Intensity Innovation & Involvement.
  • May prepare sample collection kits in accordance with Standard Work Instructions.
  • May make deliveries to clients as the need arises.
  • Traveling to other facilities may be required to meet business needs.

Operations Technician 2 must apply skills to perform the following duties:

  • Gathers information to store and retrieve samples and prepare reports.
  • Assists in educating team members on SOPs for efficiently operating equipment storage and retrieval and detailed data entry.
  • Contributes to the establishment of standard operating procedures for repository and/or laboratory.
  • Conducts investigations to detail specimen movement history and recommends resolution of inventory inaccuracies.
  • Directs internal specimen consolidation and restructuring efforts.
  • Resolves discrepancies involving ID modifications/duplicate or redundant entries and multifield corrections as requested by client or Supervisor instructions.
  • Verifies material prior to shipment and confirms accuracy of data entry records for incoming material.
  • Additional duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

Education/ Experience:

  • Requires High School Diploma or equivalent experience; Prefers a Bachelors degree in a Science related field.
  • Requires 1 year repository or similar work experience with data entry shipping/receiving sample management.

Supervisory Responsibility:

None; may assist in training peers.

Work Schedule:

Core hours are from 8AM to 4:30PM with the potential for extra hours when needed. Participation in On-Call Rotation for emergency response.

Work Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Capability to operate in a cold setting with exposure to dry ice liquid nitrogen cryogenics hazardous and infectious substances and significant temperature fluctuations.
  • May push/pull 600 lb liquid nitrogen dewars and work from a platform ladder.
  • Must use personal protective equipment and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Should be capable of lifting and moving loads of up to 50 lbs and pushing items up to 70 lbs.
  • Proficient in handling materials stored at -78C with dry ice or -196C with liquid nitrogen for 6 hours daily.
  • Should be capable of working in walk-in freezers or refrigerators on and off for a maximum of 5 hours per day.
  • Proficiency in computer skills for up to 6 hours per day is essential.
  • May need to use a forklift.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in Maryland is $15.85$23.77.
