As a Senior Software Engineer you will join our Instruments and Home Monitor team within CRM developing and maintaining medical technologies that alleviate pain restore health and extend life for millions of patients worldwide. Youll work on Embedded Software/Firmware that reside within our CRM instruments and interface with Medtronic implantable cardiac devices programming instruments and remote patient management systems.

We are looking for highly motivated self-driven software engineers who are eager to innovate in a fast-paced environment and passionate about improving patients quality of this role you will contribute to all phases of the software development process collaborating across organizational boundaries with architects software verification systems engineering and other software teams. This position is in Mounds View MN. within the Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) Operating Unit. At Medtronic we bring bold ideas forward with speed and decisiveness to put patients first in everything we -person exchanges are invaluable to our work. We are working on-site 4 days per week as part of our commitment to fostering a culture of professional growth and cross-functional collaboration as we work together to engineer the extraordinary. This role will require less than 10% of travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects.

In general the following responsibilities apply for the Senior Embedded Software Engineer role. This includes but is not limited to the following:

• Design Develop and test software for class I II and III medical products.
• Learn and understand software standards for Medical devices ex. IEC62304.
• Define maintain and implement software requirements and designs and review software developed by other team members.
• Build prototypes frameworks development kits and accelerator systems suitable for engineering evaluations and testing.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives for the software team. This includes recognizing areas for improvement as well as working with others to develop and document process improvements.
• Conduct and/or participate in technical reviews of requirements specifications designs code and other engineering artifacts ensuring timely delivery to meet program commitments.
• Design develop maintain and execute tests including unit integration and verification testing and create and maintain documentation generated from testing.
• Provide hands-on leadership coaching mentoring and software engineering best practices to junior software engineers.
• Develop reusable patterns and encourage innovation that will increase team velocity.
• Work collaboratively across functions and with internal and external partners to deliver high quality products to the marketplace.

The successful candidate will have:

• Strong knowledge and experience in embedded software design development debugging and testing
• Proven proficiency in C programming
• Experience developing multi-threaded embedded software applications with both asynchronous and synchronous code
• Experience working with real-time operating systems (RTOS)
• Ability to work effectively in an agile cross-functional team environment

Qualifications-

MUST HAVE - MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering Software Engineering Computer Science Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline and a minimum of 4 years of Software Development experience OR a Masters degree with a minimum of 2 years of Software Development experience

Nice to Have

• Experience with communication interfaces such as BLE USB and other protocols
• Experience implementing cybersecurity solutions including TLS and certificate management
• Proficiency in C and/or Java
• Experience working with ARM Cortex processor family and related development and debugging tools
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines static code analysis tools and unit test environments

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$122400.00 - $183600.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience certification/education market conditions and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
