The part-time inspector for the Cosmetology Commission and Board of Barber Examiners will complete the following duties:
- Complete inspections of new and existing cosmetology and barbering businesses across South Dakota.
- Complete inspection reports and provide copies of reports to licensees and business owners.
- Assist with the investigative and compliance functions of the office by investigating allegations of statutory and/or regulatory violations.
- Provide technical assistance to staff stakeholders and licensees
- Assist the office with various administrative tasks related to school and business licensing.
- Other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- a license in good standing with the State of South Dakota to perform Barbering or Cosmetology;
- good customer service skills and the ability to respond to written and verbal inquiries professionally.
Knowledge of:
- state laws and administrative rules pertaining to the regulation of barbering and cosmetology practices.
Ability to:
- interpret and properly apply laws and administrative rules;
- spend multiple hours per day in a vehicle travelling to complete inspections;
- use computer applications and software (e.g. Microsoft Word Excel Access Sharepoint).
