Location: 1468 Madison Ave NEW YORK NY 10029
Position Overview: We are hiring an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Coronary Care Unit (CCU) Stepdown team. This role is ideal for nurses skilled in high-acuity cardiac care who can expertly manage ventilated patients and monitor complex cardiac conditions. The CCU Stepdown Unit bridges the gap between intensive care and telemetry requiring strong critical thinking clinical precision and advanced nursing expertise.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver expert nursing care for patients recovering from cardiac procedures including post-catheterization and other interventional cardiac treatments.
Care for patients requiring ventilatory support monitoring respiratory and cardiovascular stability.
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments interpret cardiac rhythms and respond quickly to emergent changes.
Administer cardiac medications and titrate drips following established stepdown protocols.
Collaborate closely with cardiologists critical care specialists and interdisciplinary staff to develop individualized care plans.
Educate patients and families on cardiac conditions procedures and discharge instructions.
Maintain accurate documentation for all care and interventions using EPIC EMR.
Uphold patient safety and infection prevention standards within a busy stepdown environment.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) strongly preferred.
Associate degree considered only with relevant experience or active matriculation in a BSN program.
Licensure: Current Registered Nurse license in New York State.
Experience
Minimum 2 years of Stepdown or CCU experience in a hospital setting.
Demonstrated proficiency with ventilator management.
2 years of cardiology telemetry and post-procedural cath nursing experience required.
Certifications
Basic Life Support (BLS) Required
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Required
Skills and Competencies
Strong clinical knowledge of cardiac stepdown and critical care procedures.
Proficiency in ventilator management and rhythm interpretation.
Ability to manage a high-acuity 35-bed unit with an average census of 28 patients.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills for collaboration in fast-paced multidisciplinary settings.
Skilled in prioritizing and multitasking under pressure while maintaining patient safety.
Experience with EPIC EMR documentation preferred.
