Position- Underwriting Manager Personal Lines
Location- Houston TX
Mode-Hybrid
Hybrid role in Houston or The Woodlands office location.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the evaluation classification and rating of risk to determine acceptability coverage and pricing
- Implement underwriting policies under the direction of the Managing Director and ensure compliance with these policies
- Be accountable for producing business in the assigned territories
- Underwrite new and renewal business
- Be technologically savvy and data driven. Develop those capabilities in their team
- Monitor critical areas such as loss ratio costs retention ratio and new business hit ratio formulating corrective action where necessary
- Work to become expert in classes of business written within the Burns & Wilcox office
- Mentor and train underwriters and associates
- Participate in national and local advertising telemarketing and agency visits
- Assist with the development of strategic plans
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a sales team leader including direct management experience
- Minimum 5 years of multi-line underwriting/production experience excess & surplus experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability to lead influence and motivate a team
- Ability to develop and manage strong relations with clients carriers and third parties
- Demonstrated proficiency in sales and marketing
- Proven organization skills and ability with a strong attention to detail
- P&C Insurance license. CPCU CIC or comparable designations preferred
