Our Technology team drives the evolution of our Technology Engineering Data Product and User Experience functions. With a keen focus on delivering cutting-edge solutions we shape the digital landscape for our customers readers and users. From revolutionizing visuals to optimizing tools and harnessing the power of data mobile video and social platforms our team is committed to providing a seamless and immersive experience across all touchpoints. Collaborating closely with our newsrooms and strategic partners we spearhead the development of groundbreaking products and technologies.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to lead a small to mid-sized team of highly skilled engineers. This role requires a balance of technical leadership strategic influence and strong people management skills. You will drive execution across cross-functional initiatives mentor engineering leaders and foster a culture of collaboration operational excellence and innovation. You will report to the Engineering Director.
You Will:
- Lead and manage engineering teams; mentor managers and senior engineers
- Drive delivery of major features and cross-team initiatives
- Align engineering work with business priorities and product roadmaps
- Solve moderately complex technical and operational challenges
- Foster collaboration and break down silos across teams
- Promote quality automation and process improvements
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to business stakeholders
You Have:
- 10 years in software engineering with 35 years in management
- Strong technical expertise in React JavaScript TypeScript Redux
- Experience with CSS-in-JS component libraries Storybook accessibility standards and UX tools like Figma
- Familiarity with API design/integration (REST GraphQL) and security best practices
- Skilled in unit and automated testing CI/CD Agile workflows Git Jenkins Docker Terraform
- Excellent problem-solving decision-making communication and collaboration skills
- Data-driven approach to improving delivery efficiency and quality
