is currently seeking a full-time Utility Coordination Manager for one of our partners that is a leading developer of commercial EV infrastructure solutions supporting large-scale fleet electrification across North America. Our client is actively expanding their network of charging facilities to support the transition to sustainable this position you will coordinate guide and manage electric load and generation interconnections for charging facility projects through diligence pre-construction and construction stages bringing deep subject matter expertise in utility distribution and transmission systems DER integration regulatory frameworks and electrical engineering. The position is remote with the Pacific timezone preferred and requires occasional travel up to 15% of the time for project site visits and stakeholder meetings.
Responsibilities
Oversee and conduct technical evaluations of interconnection applications power system studies and utility service requests to ensure compliance with project specifications and utility requirements
Create and assess single-line diagrams (SLDs) protective relay configurations grounding system designs and SCADA/communication system architectures
Deliver comprehensive redline reviews of single-line drawings and equipment documentation to facilitate timely procurement of long-lead medium- and low-voltage electrical components
Offer expert technical consultation on utility interconnection agreements and related analytical studies encompassing distribution and transmission network effects
Liaise with utility companies and engineering consultants regarding service enhancements substation connection points and distribution/transmission design specifications
Partner with equipment vendors to establish specifications AutoCAD documentation requirements and technical drawing standards for dependable system deployment
Integrate distributed energy resource (DER) readiness approaches into facility design to accommodate future solar battery energy storage systems (BESS) demand response vehicle-to-grid (V2G) and microgrid technologies
Work with utility partners on Load Constraint Management Systems (LCMS) implementation and additional smart-grid programs to optimize project costs and accelerate schedules
Deliver technical expertise and strategic recommendations for utility-scale electrical design industrial power systems and battery energy storage system installations
Function as the organizations technical authority on utility interconnection procedures across the United States and California including CPUC Rule 21 compliance and state-level interconnection regulations
Serve as the primary technical resource for electrical engineering matters grid connection strategies and distributed energy resource planning
Complete additional responsibilities and projects as required to support organizational objectives
Requirements
Minimum of 7 years in electrical engineering utility interconnection or utility operations
Professional background must encompass metering systems protection schemes equipment standards and site-level SCADA and energy management system (EMS) engineering
Established proficiency in utility distribution and transmission interconnection projects with verifiable track record collaborating with diverse national utilities and California CPUC-regulated and non-regulated utility providers
Comprehensive knowledge of utility interconnection regulatory requirements and their application-specific nuances (including CPUC Rule 21 FERC protocols and ISO/RTO-mandated specifications)
Hands-on experience designing SCADA and communication systems particularly for substation environments and distributed energy resource installations
Working knowledge of structural civil and battery system engineering sufficient to evaluate design documentation from electric utilities and engineering procurement and construction (EPC) contractors for cost optimization technical accuracy and local code compliance
Proven capability to evaluate and provide detailed redline feedback on single-line diagrams (SLDs) and equipment documentation to facilitate procurement of long-lead medium- and low-voltage electrical components
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or comparable professional experience in the field
Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities with the capacity to collaborate effectively across technical and business-focused teams
Adaptable and flexible approach with the capability to excel in dynamic evolving and uncertain situations
Proficient at collaborating in a geographically dispersed remote-first organizational structure
