Since 1971 Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board has provided a comprehensive continuum of high-quality essential and community-based services to citizens of the Peninsula who are living with a mental illness developmental disabilities and substance use disorders.

YOUR DAY AS A NURCE PSYCHIATRIC CARE (RN)

As a Full-Time Psychiatric Care Nurse (RN) at RCSC youll be a key player in providing life-changing care to individuals experiencing mental health crises. Your role will involve working closely with a staff psychiatrist to assist with the prescription administration and monitoring of client medications. Youll also conduct in-depth assessments to determine the appropriate medical and nursing care for each individual.

Your responsibilities will include developing and evaluating individualized treatment plans overseeing the safe and accurate management of medications and coordinating medical services including referrals transportation and medical appointments. Youll also offer supportive counseling to clients and families and provide crisis intervention and emergency services when necessary.

WOULD YOU BE A GREAT NURSE PSYCH CARE (RN)

To thrive in this role were looking for someone with a combination of clinical expertise compassionate care and a collaborative spirit. Ideal candidates will hold an RN License as a Registered Nurse by the Virginia Board of Nursing have at least one year of behavioral health experience and be willing to register as a QMHP-A trainee within the first 30 days of employment. A valid Virginia Drivers License is also required.

In addition you will need strong communication and interpersonal skills the ability to provide crisis intervention and a passion for working with individuals in need of psychiatric care. Your ability to build trust and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team will be key to your success in this role.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

• Licensed RN by the Virginia Board of Nursing (VA DHP) and one year of behavioral health experience.
• Candidate will register to practice as a QMHP-A trainee within the first 30 days of employment.
