Stephens College invites applications for a permanent full-time non-tenure track position in Biology in the School of Health Sciences.
The ideal candidate will develop and teach innovative engaging student-centered courses for biology health science and nursing majors in two or more of the following areas: introductory biology; anatomy & physiology; cell and molecular biology; vertebrate biology; evolution and ecology; conservation and environmental science.
Preference will be given to candidates with a plan to engage undergraduate students in their research program who have mentored students completing research projects and/or who are dedicated to experiential learning.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to an expanding set of opportunities for collaborative and undergraduate research in a small college setting including the new WiSR (Women in STEM Research) Program. The specific area of research is open.
Job Duties:
- Develop and teach undergraduate courses in biology.
- Academic advising for undergraduate students.
- Develop and pursue a research program with undergraduate students.
- Provide service to the college and profession.
- Assist in development of curricula and programs within the School of Health Sciences.
Requirements
Essential:
- Earned PhD in biology animal science or related field.
- Experience teaching at the collegiate or university level.
- Record of research accomplishments suited to undergraduate student participation.
- Ability to implement innovative and diverse teaching styles to a wide-variety of learners.
- Excellent collaborative and communication skills.
Highly Desired:
- Postdoctoral research experience.
- Experience mentoring undergraduate research students.
- Academic advising of undergraduate students.
