The Public Employees Retirement System is recruiting for one (1) Actuarial Data Specialist (Operations & Policy Analyst 1) in the Financial Services Division (FSD) Actuarial Activities Section (AAS).
There is one full-time permanent position.
This position is based at our headquarters office in Tigard Oregon however this is a 100% remote work position.
This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified applicants to fill the current vacancy and may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.
This position is represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).
We serve the people of Oregon by administering public employee benefit trusts to pay the right person the right benefit at the right time.
Financial Services Division (FSD)
FSD provides comprehensive financial services to the agency. This includes financial accounting reporting financial planning and tax services for all PERS Trust and agency fund activities including the Retirement Funds Deferred Compensation funds Benefit Equalization Fund Health Insurance and Social Security Programs. The Division is responsible for managing all the financial capital resources of the agency as well as program service delivery to participants of the PHIP and OSGP programs. Through FSD management we disburse over $5.6 billion annually in member and beneficiary benefits and receive $5.03 billion in member and employer contributions that are invested in the PERS fund. FSD business functions include preparation and reporting of the agencys biennial budget coordination with the legislature actuarial services fiscal analysis accounts receivable accounts payable payroll and all accounting and tax activities.
Actuarial Activities Section (AAS)
The AAS supports the actuarial valuation of pension liabilities and calculation of required contribution rates. This includes collection of data review of actuarial reporting dissemination of employer contributions and creation of educational materials. AAS business functions include the coordination of actuarial services contract management member data collection and other functions.
What you will be doing:
As an Actuarial Data Specialist you will help our team develop its analytical tools and technical capabilities. You must be proficient in using Microsoft Office tools (Word Excel Outlook PowerPoint). This role will primarily assist senior team members to obtain financial and demographic information for actuarial valuation by our external actuaries. Knowledge of Power BI will be required to perform needed assignments. Familiarity with the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) and SQL is desired. What Are We Looking For
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelors Degree in Business or Public Administration Behavioral or Social Sciences Finance Political Science or any degree demonstrating the capacity for the knowledge and skills;
OR
Any combination of experience or education equivalent to three years technical-level experience that typically supports the knowledge and skill requirements listed for the classification.

The salary listed is the non-PERS qualifying salary range. If the successful candidate is PERS qualifying the salary range will reflect the additional 6.95%.
