In this position...
As a member of the advanced chassis engineering team you are responsible for the up-front system design work and decision-making inputs on all-new Ford & Lincoln products including next-gen electrified architectures. Our functional architecture team is responsible for suspension steering brakes wheels/tires and chassis systems. Were looking for an advanced chassis engineer to join the underbody systems architecture team.
Responsibilities
What youll do...
Create advanced design concepts of chassis components and systems (brakes steering suspension wheels/tires/jacks) for Ford global vehicles and next-gen electrified architectures.
Lead new component design / package maturation in CAD. Examples are stampings castings forgings coil springs shock absorbers bushings ball joints fasteners active suspension systems brake systems and steering systems.
Oversee architecture system integration & installation working with body electrical powertrain vehicle operations and vehicle architecture.
Perform strength analysis for various chassis components.
Perform chassis system analysis for kinematics and compliances working with vehicle dynamics and NVH attribute teams.
Early supplier engagement/interface for advanced concepts.
Qualifications
Youll have...
Bachelors degree in engineering or science mechanical engineering preferred
Even better you may have...
5 years of engineering experience preferred.
2 years of automotive experience preferred.
Strong cross-functional & communication skills.
Strong problem solving and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of mechanical integration & installation requirements package & assembly.
Experience with CATIA V5/V6 and 3DX is a plus.
Experience with FEA (ANSYS or Hypermesh) is a plus.
Experience with ADAMS is a plus.
Experience with underhood / underbody / dash package & mechanical integration/installation a plus.
