We are looking for structurally minded engineers and scientists to join the Core Structural Integrity Department as Stress Engineers. The team is responsible for owning and continuously developing our materials knowledge and capability through testing research and development. We are also responsible for using this data to generate analysis models and methods which we then use to assess the structural integrity of our nuclear fuel assemblies.

What you will be doing:

The team provides structural assessments of nuclear fuel assemblies which support a range of product scenarios. These include supporting manufacture of current designs advising improvements to manufacturing processes substantiating new designs and supporting ongoing justifications for in-service product. Successful candidates will cover several of the following skills or have specialist knowledge within one area:

  • Structural analysis principles.
  • Finite Element Analysis (eg. Abaqus).
  • Structural Assessments (eg. fatigue analysis and fracture mechanics).
  • Data manipulation modelling and automation.
  • Materials behaviours and failure modes.

To work for the Rolls-Royce Submarines Business an individual has to hold Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if the individual does not currently already have this in place.

Due to the nature of work the Business conducts and the protection of certain assets a person has to be a UK national or in MoD approved cases a Dual National from a non-ITAR country.
