About Shore Community Services Inc.
Shore CILA is a division of Shore Community Services Inc. dedicated to supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in achieving independence dignity and community inclusion. As a DSP youll be a vital part of that missionproviding hands-on care encouragement and advocacy every day.
Position Summary
The Direct Support Professional provides direct care and support to individuals in a Community Integrated Living Arrangement (CILA) setting. This includes assisting with daily living activities implementing personal plans and fostering a safe respectful and engaging home environment.
Key Responsibilities
A. Individual Support & Supervision
- Ensure the health safety and well-being of residents
- Assist with activities of daily living (e.g. hygiene mobility meals toileting)
- Administer and document medications per policy
- Support residents in preparing meals attending appointments and engaging in community activities
- Serve as a positive role model and advocate for residents rights and choices
B. Program Implementation
- Participate in the development and implementation of Personal Plans
- Implement behavior support strategies and skill-building programs
- Document progress complete assessments and communicate updates to the Program Manager
- Attend interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to care planning
C. Community & Household Engagement
- Plan and supervise community outings and leisure activities
- Assist with household tasks including cleaning laundry and meal prep
- Support residents in developing independent living skills
- Substitute for the CILA Home Supervisor as needed
D. Organizational Responsibilities
- Comply with all agency policies safety protocols and confidentiality standards
- Report incidents suspected abuse or misconduct in accordance with regulations
- Participate in required training and maintain DSP certification
- Maintain a clean organized and functional workspace
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent (additional education preferred)
Experience:
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic computer literacy and documentation skills
- Physical ability to lift assist and support residents as needed
Requirements
- Valid Illinois drivers license and automobile insurance
- DSP certification (or willingness to complete training upon hire)
- Closed-toe non-slip footwear required
- Professional safe attire appropriate for direct care
Looking for someone to work 7:00am to 3:00pm shft Saturday and Sundays
