Shore CILA is a division of Shore Community Services Inc. dedicated to supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in achieving independence dignity and community inclusion. As a DSP youll be a vital part of that missionproviding hands-on care encouragement and advocacy every day.

Position Summary

The Direct Support Professional provides direct care and support to individuals in a Community Integrated Living Arrangement (CILA) setting. This includes assisting with daily living activities implementing personal plans and fostering a safe respectful and engaging home environment.

Key Responsibilities

A. Individual Support & Supervision

• Ensure the health safety and well-being of residents
• Assist with activities of daily living (e.g. hygiene mobility meals toileting)
• Administer and document medications per policy
• Support residents in preparing meals attending appointments and engaging in community activities
• Serve as a positive role model and advocate for residents rights and choices

B. Program Implementation

• Participate in the development and implementation of Personal Plans
• Implement behavior support strategies and skill-building programs
• Document progress complete assessments and communicate updates to the Program Manager
• Attend interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to care planning

C. Community & Household Engagement

• Plan and supervise community outings and leisure activities
• Assist with household tasks including cleaning laundry and meal prep
• Support residents in developing independent living skills
• Substitute for the CILA Home Supervisor as needed

D. Organizational Responsibilities

• Comply with all agency policies safety protocols and confidentiality standards
• Report incidents suspected abuse or misconduct in accordance with regulations
• Participate in required training and maintain DSP certification
• Maintain a clean organized and functional workspace

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent (additional education preferred)

Experience:

• Experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred

Skills & Abilities:

• Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Basic computer literacy and documentation skills
• Physical ability to lift assist and support residents as needed

• Valid Illinois drivers license and automobile insurance
• DSP certification (or willingness to complete training upon hire)
• Closed-toe non-slip footwear required
• Professional safe attire appropriate for direct care
