The opportunity Te Whiwhinga mahi
We are seeking dedicated and detail-oriented supervisors to join our exams team as Reader/Writer Supervisors. These roles play a vital part in ensuring that students with approved special conditions have equitable access to their exams.
These are students who have either a:
- Temporary disability.
- Permanent disability.
- Conditions that affects their ability to sit exams under the prescribed conditions.
As a Reader/Writer Supervisor you will work one-on-one with students who require assistance during their exams. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Reading exam questions aloud to students as requested.
- Writing or typing answers as dictated by the student accurately and without interpretation.
- Setting up the exam room by placing exam papers stationery and equipment at desks in accordance with procedures and spacing requirements.
- Implementing exam rules and regulations and remaining attentive throughout the exam monitoring student behaviour.
- Assisting before during and after the exam by directing students to their seats advising them about possessions permitted in the exam room and handling queries raised.
- Supervising carefully making sure that students do not communicate with one another during the exam and responding to any irregularities immediately.
- Checking attendance during exams and recording details of late arrivals.
- Escorting candidates on washroom breaks as required.
- Detecting any unauthorised materials inside the exam room and ensuring that academic integrity is upheld at all times.
- Delivering and collecting exam scripts carefully at the start and end of the exam in accordance with procedures.
- Be able to adapt to different modes of exams throughout the day and/or exam period.
- Support exam processes.
You will hold integrity in high regard pay close attention to detail and be able to remain vigilant for prolonged periods. You will be able to adapt to mixed modes of exam delivery including on campus digital exams traditional paper-based exams and remote online invigilation.
Were looking for people who:
- Have excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Possess good typing speed and accuracy with the ability to keep up with dictated responses under exam conditions (40 to 52 words per minute).
- Are patient calm and able to work sensitively with students who may experience anxiety learning differences or other challenges.
You will need to be available throughout the exam period which runs from 30th October to 11th November.
