Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMT)

Overview

Ansible Government Solutions LLC (Ansible) is currently recruiting for Nuclear Medicine Technologists (NMT) to support the VA Long Beach Healthcare System (Tibor Rubin VA Medical Center) located at 5901 East 7th St Long Beach CA 90822. Available shift schedules include days evenings and you accept employment with Ansible you must also acknowledge that any assigned schedule is subject to change at the direction of either Ansible or its customers.

Responsibilities

• Performs quality controls on equipment used each day and performs and processes a wide range of clinical nuclear medicine studies including PET/CT general Nuclear Medicine and cardiac imaging
• Prepares and administers radioactive substances according to guidelines and protocols set by the Nuclear Medicine Department the hospital Radiation Safety Department and other requirements established by has the NRC and NHPP
• Maintains familiarity with the requirements for each test and is able to assess the condition of the patient their ability to undergo the procedure compliance to preparation instructions and medication conflicts
• Evaluates the quality of images taken and additional images when necessary
• Performs related clerical duties such as sending images to PACS archiving images and case editing of computer requests and reports
• Sets up radiographic suites and ensures that sterile supplies contrast materials catheters and other required equipment/supplies are present and available
• Prepares and administers contrast material orally by enema or under close supervision of radiologists intravenously but not independently; as required by procedure or patients condition monitors vital signs (blood pressure and heart rate) and reports any significant changes to a radiologist
• Lifts positions pushes and transfers patients supplies and/or equipment as needed
• Performs related clerical duties such as sending images to PACS archiving images and case editing of computer requests and reports
• As required maintains records and enters patient information into the computer through the use of the Radiology Veterans Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VISTA) package

Qualifications

• English language proficiency
• ARRT(N) and/or NMTCB CNMT certified (either is required)
• Graduate of an accredited Joint Review Committee on Education of Radiologic Technologists (JRCERT) program and have a minimum of two (2) years of work experience
  • Note - Student internship and training time spent in a radiology setting does not count toward the two (2) years of experience
• Experience with Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) experience with Agfa PACS is preferred but not required
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required

All candidates must be able to:

• Sit stand walk lift squat bend twist and reach above shoulders during the work shift
• Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist
• Lift up to 20 lbs
• Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance
• Push/pull with 30 lbs of force
