The Department of English at University of the Cumberlands seeks candidates to join our faculty as a full-time Assistant Professor of English beginning August 2026. The primary responsibilities of the position will focus on teaching undergraduate courses in Composition I and Composition II along with upper-division English Literature courses based on applicants expertise and the departments course rotation. The University of the Cumberlands is a faith-based institution that welcomes students from all backgrounds. Its mission is to offer high quality academic programs that empower its graduates to seek a life-more-abundant.
Responsibilities:
- Teaching undergraduate courses in Composition I and Composition II along with upper-division English Literature courses based on applicants expertise and the departments course rotation
- Working collaboratively and successfully with colleagues and university administration
- Other duties as assigned by the Department Chair
- Other duties as assigned by the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in English Literature (Master of Arts considered)
- Proven experience in teaching
- Record of professional and scholarly productivity
- Excellent oral written and interpersonal skills. Must be able to relate to and communicate with diverse students faculty staff and external communities
- Willingness to adopt and support a mindset that focuses on student success
