| Job Description: | OPS technician positions are available in Dr. Zhipeng Lis laboratory in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology to support ongoing research projects studying cancer metabolism and ferroptosis. This is a new lab in the College of Medicine at the University of Florida and there will be tremendous opportunities to learn and contribute to exciting research. We are a multi-disciplinary lab that utilizes various techniques (biochemistry molecular and cellular biology microscopy and imaging) in mammalian cell culture model systems. We strive to cultivate a collaborative lab environment that enables innovative and cutting-edge research. The position will involve performing routine experiments contributing essential support functions and maintaining the day-to-day operation of the lab. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual looking for research experience prior to applying to graduate school. Training opportunities for cutting-edge technologies in the lab include CRISPR (knockout knock-in a/i) high-throughput functional genomic and small molecule screens and confocal microscopy. | Preferred: | The ideal candidate will: - have a recent or expected Bachelors degree in Biological Sciences (or related field).
- be self-motivated energetic able to solve problems and able to work in a multi-faceted laboratory environment.
- have excellent organizational communication time management and record-keeping skills.
- have experience in Biochemistry Molecular Biology and Cell Biology with undergraduate lab experience.
- have excellent interpersonal and social skills and enjoy working and interacting with people.
