Job Summary

AECOM is hosting an exclusive invitation-only hiring event in Boston on November 19-20 2025. This is a great opportunity to learn and connect with AECOM for career opportunities starting Spring/Summer 2026.

The event kicks off on Wednesday evening with a networking mixer where you can hear from AECOM staff about various projects career paths and the company itself. Youll also have the chance to meet other students recent graduates and AECOM professionals from across our business lines.

On Thursday interviews will take place at our Boston office. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and connect with AECOM for early career opportunities.

AECOMs Water Business Line is seeking a talented Engineering Intern to support water water resources and wastewater treatment and distribution projects to be based on Chelmsford MA.

This position is expected to begin in Spring/Summer 2026.

Internships at AECOM offer students in undergraduate and graduate programs the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in engineering design and infrastructure projects that make a real-world impact. Interns work with cutting-edge technology learn industrys best practices and collaborate with experienced professionals in a globally recognized firm. The program fosters both technical and professional skill development while providing networking opportunities that can enhance future career prospects.

Additionally AECOMs dedication to innovation and sustainability enables interns to contribute to meaningful projects that help shape communities and the built environment.

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the water group by preparing design drawings plans technical reports and details for various water/wastewater treatment projects.
  • Internships are designed to introduce and build essential hands-on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional.
  • Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad well-rounded learning experience within their field of study.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidates must pursue a bachelors degree in environmental/civil engineering or in another related field and must have completed three (3) or more years of study. Candidates who have graduated with a bachelors degree and are currently or planning to continue with their masters degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Graduates not pursuing a masters degree must have been enrolled in their bachelors degree in the most previous school term.
  • Must have a valid U.S. drivers license and as a condition of employment must be able to pass AECOMs Motor Vehicle Records review.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completed university courses in water treatment (Fluid Mechanics Water Resources Hydrology Environmental Chemistry).
  • Pursuing Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE).
  • GIS and CAD skills.
  • Capable of using spreadsheet word processing and standard office software.
  • Ability to work productively in a team environment.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Self-learner.
