The hospitals heart attack treatment times consistently beat the national average and the hospital offers two cardiac catheterization labs available 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Groundbreaking cardiac procedures at Dominican include the Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) procedure which allows for heart valve replacement without opening a patients chest.

Job Summary and Responsibilities
Position Summary:
The Lead Respiratory Therapist provides quality respiratory care services including routine and complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures designed to evaluate stabilize prevent or remedy neonatal pediatric adult and geriatric pulmonary abnormalities. The Lead Respiratory Therapist functions in the following capacities: Serves as an advanced clinical resource person to department and organization. Initiates and measures patient care quality initiatives developed within the unit practice council and/or other quality improvement committees. Maintains blood gas laboratory regulatory compliance. Assists clinical educator in maintaining staff clinical competencies and appropriate rotation of clinical assignments. Ensures smooth workflow staffing levels and productivity on a shift-by-shift basis. Assists director and clinical educator in process and/or performance improvement regulatory and educational initiatives. Incumbents in this position shall comply with all applicable laws and rules including the Dignity Health Standards of Conduct and Dignity Health policies and procedures that apply to his/her job responsibilities seek guidance when in doubt promptly report any potential or suspected violation of Dignity Health Standards of Conduct Dignity Health policy or procedure or applicable laws/regulations and when requested assist Dignity Health personnel in investigating all allegations of violation. When called upon the incumbent shall assist in risk evaluation and work collaboratively with facility/entity leaders to implement monitor and mitigate risk corrective pans outlined by the Compliance program.
Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- Five (5) years respiratory therapy experience in the acute care setting.
- Experience in team leadership and/or team development.
- Must possess a current and valid CA Respiratory Care Practitioner license (RCP).
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
- Neonatal-Pediatric Specialist (NPS) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (must be obtained with 6 months of hire).
- Current BLS ACLS PALS and NRP Certifications.
Education:
- Associate of Science Degree in Respiratory Therapy or related discipline.
Preferred
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Respiratory Therapy or related discipline.
- Experience in team leadership and/or team development
