Background

An access control system is about who gets access to what and when. It typically consists of doors with different access requirements. For instance during the day a user might only need to present a card but during the night both card and pin is necessary to enter an area.

However users have access pattern they arrive at roughly the same time during the morning and leave during the same time in the afternoon accessing the same doors in the same sequence. Could these access pattern be identified and lower the security requirements in the system or could an operator be notified when someone access something outside their typical pattern.

Goal of thesis

The goal of the thesis is to investigate different machine learning or statical approaches for detecting patterns in users access behaviour and building models detecting anomalies in the access data and evaluating the models.

The students will have to investigate the current research within machine learning and other statistical methods for the best approach to this problem.

Who are you

You are a student in the final year of your studies and have an interest in machine learning statistics öand software engineering. You are most likely studying a masters in computer science data science or similar. The work will be done at Axis.
